HEY GIRLFRIEND is a place to connect in a fun, witty, whimsical and many times profound way, on female related topics, concerns and issues, including 12 Step Recovery. Whether you’re a female age 21 to 90, or a male just trying to understand what makes your woman tick (good luck with that buddy), you will find Hey Girlfriend both entertaining and worthwhile. To share our passions, to comment on our ever changing lives, to provoke a thought, to support one another, to laugh at ourselves and maybe at the other sex too (but never in a mean way), that’s what Hey Girlfriend is all about.

A little about me, C. St. James. I was born on the East Coast but raised in Southern California. I grew up with Hollywood being a household word, celebrity sightings being a common occurrence, Malibu being our beach and Rodeo Drive being just a short drive away. No wonder I developed an eating disorder at an early age – trying to keep up with all of the beautiful, perfect women who only really exist in magazines and in the movies! I discovered my passion for fashion as a teen when my first job was working retail and I have been fortunate to have an expertise in the fashion industry in my professional career as a business attorney. I also developed an eating disorder/drinking problem in my teens. After checking myself into a 30 day treatment center in my 20’s, I was introduced to the 12 Steps. I continued to attend 12 Step meetings as an outpatient and today I am a gratefully recovering, abstinent and sober, food addict/alcoholic. My worst nightmare 32 years ago turned out to be the greatest blessing of my life. I have a life today I never dreamed possible. You can have what I have too, if you are willing to surrender and work the Steps – I promise!

I will be blogging regularly on my favorite Categories (check out the Menu Bar) and yes, the most serious topic of my recovery as a 12 Stepper (32 years of abstinence in OA/10 years sober and still going strong!). I also plan on laughing a lot along the way and I look forward to taking this ride with you.

“To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
